I've made one very small edit, to correct a possible misinterpretation: the 'summary' in para 1 ("interesting, eclectic, inspired and sometimes great") was always meant to refer to the earlier 'To Drown'. Sorry if that wasn't completely clear.
The rest of the review is where 'Roots of Grief' has built and improved on that, imho :) .

I'll have to give it a listen. The previous album, albeit not bad, didn't leave a lasting impression - in fact, I don't have the slightest recollection of what it sounded like although I listened to it at least twice on Bandcamp back then. But I do remember that it was solid, so let's see what this new one has to offer.

I suspect you'll remember it when you do: Arne's voice is quite unmistakeable!

I'm still listening to 'Roots of Grief' a lot: it's well up there in my most-played releases of the year. In contrast to your well-argued issues with the new Ataraxie, I think it's partly because this really does sound like genuine, uncontrived passion to me. Balls-out and heart-on-the-sleeve stuff. Be interested to hear what you reckon!
