I would not compare this lush and appeased FD to Thergothon, and the vocals sound terribly forced, but he had a magical idea complementing them with echoing blurred whispers, it does help. The whole tastes a bit to much like your second-rate one-man project though...

I'd say that this is pretty awful, could not get through further than the middle of the second song.

The keys are absurdly cheerful for such a release. Even Christmas songs don't have keys as happy as the ones in the first track. And they are present most of the time.

I agree about the vocals - they are awful, the backing whispers are a great idea, but the whole situation is helpless.

Also I do not think that the guitars work well in such context, for a 3-song 80-minutes album I'd rather have long drawn out notes that engulf you. Here they are too active without any buildup and get tiresome quickly.

p.s. the comparison with Thergothon is obviously absurd=)

The production is bad... everything is too loud and in your face. Musically, I don't dislike it... its the usual Russian atmospheric doom, which I dig... :)

I'll have to listen to it again as I didn't think everything was too loud. Good stuff however. :D

Maybe "in your face"... i.e. too forward in the mix... :)
