Write up is great as always Mike.

But the fest... Stoner Vs Stoner. Seriously, how many of the subgenres represented on our bandlist are at this fest? I need to move to mainland Europe I think...

Sheffield, but you were right beside Rotterdam.. Ah no, Rotherham.... Too bad :/

4, 5 hours to get there, man! You do deserve to be the boss here, hats off!

Cheers! I would certainly say the Saturday was more on the Stoner side, but we've got 9 of the 22 bands listed here (whether they should all be is more of a debate...!), so I guess it's not that terrible a mix, even if you're being fairly purist about the Doom relevance.

Well I did ride down to Paris and back in a couple of days last week, to the pre-launch evening for the new Angellore album. That was a lot longer, and a bit more exotic :D But I kinda like just taking some time out from everything, and just riding for hours with nothing but random shuffle music from my collection for company. It's a fairly unique combination, in my experience, of combining enough focus and attention to the mechanical demands of the task with a lot of space to simply think and reflect. Perhaps weirdly, the only comparable experience I've ever come across is industrial-scale painting and decorating, which shares that balance of having to focus enough to do the job correctly, whilst leaving you with a lot of runtime to think about other things. I'm sure there are plenty of other activities which fall into the same bracket (late-night and lengthy IT emergency fixes spring to mind as something that can, but don't always, follow the same pattern), but those just happen to be my own personal touchstones...
