Post Re: Interview with Visceral Evisceration

One of the few occasions where I'd pick Paradise Lost as a preferable option. And I don't even like PL...

That's probably because I've always absolutely hated the childish crap of 'let's pretend I'm really a sick cannibal with "shocking" track names' of Grindcore. If you really want to be Jeffrey Dahmer, get back to me after you've been given the electric chair for living that particular dream, otherwise, fuck off with your embarrassingly trite poseur nastiness. c.f. Autopsy, Cadaver and all other 'shock-horror, I'm so EVIL I love to eat women's cunt parts' bullshit. I'm over 50 now, I don't need to try and shock my mum into accepting my transgressive teenage rebellion, and I really don't see what this adds to...well, pretty much any aspect of music...
But do feel free to explain why it has any intrinsic merit beyond being an atypical curio of the Doom/Extreme crossover of the early '90s :D

Hehe, I'm totally with you on the stupid gore stuff. But I have learned to ignore lots of stuff for the sake of music (fast parts, lyrical themes, asshole musicians and so on) and musically I find the album quite ok, while really close to early PL sound which i never could grasp.

But I do not give them any merit for the gore theme, it's only a drawback. Fortunately when listening to the album the lyrical theme is completely irrelevant=)

I'm relistening to them right now, on an old tape, and I think it's really good!

... ah shit! the tape is too short and I don't even have the last song recorded in its entirety. Lame me!
