Am I the only doom fan who can't stand those vocals? I can't help but thinking they approach a comical level that makes the whole impossible to take seriously. His voice plus his physical features and you got the picture: a greasy wannabe-opera-singer defroked monk screaming his lungs out atop a Kaspar David Friedrich-like cardboard hillock...
I'd dream to see him roll down that hill to land in a puddle of donkey shit in fact...

Yeah, baphomet, I'm not with you on this haha :D. Nightfall is a stellar and partly because of the vocals.

I consider a blessing he's only a bracket in Candlemass' history. I'm now on Chapter IV and I love it! :D

I would gladly have vocals of Messiah's level. However I'd say that I'm quite happy with their current vocalist as well. He is something in between Lowe & Messiah vocal styles which works quite good.

It's certainly looking that way :p
TBH, I think Messiah was quite possibly a dick, in person, and I'm no great fan of the cheesy official videos they released during that period. But his voice, well, it wasn't far from perfect for what they were doing then. My favourite albums aren't Messiah ones - Johan Längquist and Björn Flodkvist hold that particular honour - but, really, would they have got from the niche offering (at the time) of Epicus to the experimentalism of Dactylis, if they hadn't grabbed people's attention with the Nightfall/Dreams/Tales trilogy? I'm guessing probably not...
