It's simply an excellent album. I'm very impressed by their progression. Or maybe their debut is worth revisiting?

What a coincidence! I listened to that album going to / coming back from work today.

I agree. It's really good. Slow intense and enough melody to be catchy.

It is...

Good then! I was quite amused by the French Canadian accent of the singer, very distinctive when he clear-sings. :D
But yes, the songwriting is full of catchy hooks and achieves an optimal balance between complexity and clearness, all parts are very well articulated with each other and within the whole, and they have that extra something that turns the listening experience into real musical journey.

Well now, I will pay a close attention to this project; them and Suffer Yourself are the standout acts of these last 5 years, imo...

True. When he growls I sometimes don't know if it's English or French. But it doesn't bother me. It somehow fits to the concept.

In the course of the last 5 years, I don't see any other new project that'd have produced albums as achieved, original and compelling as those two... They are both building a thing of their own without trying hard to emulate anybody... So yeah, maybe one or two bands as worthy of praise are skipping my mind right now, but Norilsk are onto something great.
I've listened to their debut btw, and all its many little flaws have been corrected on this sophomore, so my only hope is that they'd go on progressing.

Fair enough... I haven't heard anything original for eons... but I'm not bothered by it... as long as I can enjoy good albums - albeit a bit derivative - I'm fine... maybe I'm not as excitable or demanding as you... :)
