First laugh of the day! :D
(the link to this forum is broken under the review page though)

The brutal cut in the beginning of the second paragraph in particular awakened my sygomatic muscles:
Look, I'm not gonna beat about the bush. This is awful.

:metalhead:

The cd makes a very effective coaster. Later on I'm going to see how good its aeronautical qualities are. :p

I do not get what happened to this EP. The previous album of the band was pretty ok (not a favourite style, but it sounds like a nice album=) and here everything is wrong, most notably the guitars and the harsh vocals. Only the first piano piece track is nice=)

Pity as the female vocals are better than the previous ones...

I agree entirely. I still like the debut a lot, it had the right sort of balance and feel to it to be a very creditable "transition-period Anathema" work. But then, it seems they spent a long time putting it all very carefully together to achieve that. This EP's more like chucking together any old thing that was lying around, and it just doesn't work in any coherent sense. I guess that's the thing with 'atmospheric'-based approaches, if you don't get the atmosphere right, you don't really end up with anything...
