Akatharta - "Spiritus Immundus"

Re: Akatharta - "Spiritus Immundus"
Not being a Death Metal maniac, The only prominent band this album makes me think of would be Hooded Menace. But I guess HM is just an enterprise in recycling rehashed old-school aesthetics. Akathartah sounds more esoteric and darker though, hence better!

Yes, Hooded Menace are similar and perhaps a bit rougher in sound. Akatharta have a far more polished production.
I do like Hooded Menace though. They've got an old-skool vibe about them, as have Akatharta.

DOOM WHAT THOU WILT
Re: Akatharta - "Spiritus Immundus"
I've just relistened to Fulfill the Curse, and there's an obvious underlying irony that is totally lacking in AKATHARTA. It's Much, much darker, and slower as a matter of fact.

I listened to the album and did not feel a thing. There are some good melodies, but everything is so artificial.
I've noticed it other times with death metal guys trying to create a doom album. Most of the times they succeed in making it sound like doom, but not feel like doom. Useless release.

It is true it is rather superficial, not conveying a lot of interesting, gripping emotions, but I like its darkness and heaviness. Those arguments are a bit short to justify a purchase, clearly.
