Your last caustic line about mummy not being bothered by this album is killing it for good! :D

Listening to the album without taking into account the ridiculous gimmicks reveals a perfectly decent album which shows no sign of the said gimmicks, so it's even worse since the music does not justify them at all.

And since there are plenty of average doom bands it's so easy to ignore this one=)))

Sadly, that's not so much caustic as straight-up truth...and my mum's 80, and never had particularly good taste in music to begin with...

...exactly so!

I mean, it's not even like it's particularly hard to get a bit of religious depravity in your rock'n'roll, if that's your aim - Christian Death practically made a career out of it. Not a particularly subtle example, but I would turn this album off before offering mum a cup of tea :p

I would turn most, if not all of Christian Death off before offering the old girl a cuppa. The name of the band alone would probably upset her ecclesiastical leanings. Oddly enough, the only band I got asked NOT to play as a kid was W.A.S.P. Never found out what it was that bothered her abput them. Napalm Death however, seemed perfectly acceptable.

As a point of interest: my mother suffers from a very real musical anhedonia, not only she can't be moved by music, but she can't stand any kind of music at all. Put her in a front of Christan Death, she'll sleep. :p

edit: just listened to FuneralFukk ep: solid, but nothing that would urge me to buy it. It's lacking personality.

How weird, but (having looked it up) apparently it is a proper neurological condition in an estimated 3% of people - they don't just 'not like' music, they don't have the necessary auditory processing stimulation to process it altogether. That seems really sad, but I guess if you've never appreciated music, perhaps you don't miss it at all. Must be a bit socially awkward though, especially in younger years.

Still remember the joy when I lieved with parents and my mom entered the room asking what is this nice music playing. It was Black Sabbath - Orchid.

Regarding the subject though I feel like I must agree with baphomet.

3% of the population, it's rather significant! In Belgium that makes 350000 persons that music leaves totally indifferent.
This impairment of hers has never been diagnosed as such, it's only a (rather late) conclusion I made, but she is your typical case as described by medical research. That has never prevented her from having an active social life, on the contrary, but based on other fields of interest, I suppose.

I have a real issue with bands with puerile names like this. They're usually not even going to get a listen...
There was a thrash band back in the eighties called Fuck Off...
