Hmm, after the split with AGOD I thought I might have 'had enough' of the cold view...I loved 'Wires...' but figured if it just kept repeating the formula I may as well move on...the review had me curious but not convinced but I've got it on at the moment and I'm going to have to buy a copy. Edit, just purchased. This is exactly how a band should evolve.

As far as the 'cinematic' effect goes, can I add 'Obscured by Clouds' to the party. Maybe it's just the drum sound but that's all I could think about during the first track. :)

You certainly can! That's a pretty astute call, in fact, one of those 'tip of the tongue' thoughts that didn't quite make it into the write-up.

I think everyone will agree that the drumming is the most interesting feature on this album; it kind of rekindles the corpse.

But it should be a nice addition my "ambient doom" collection.... Now you also remided me of the Undergrave Experiment... It's a project you keep citing as reference. It should be worth my precious time! :D

I keep hoping he might come up with a new album, it's been years since the debut...

I don't know why but I can't get enough if this. Sometimes an album just grabs you. I don't think you can approach it from a doom perspective, but we possibly don't need to go down that road....I get different flavours each time I listen to it. Jean Michel Jarre came to mind last time...

For sure...the one thing I wouldn't call it is 'boring'. By Funeral Doom standards, it's pretty much packed with variety!

I must say I find the music super sinister, the guy has managed to bring about a real evil vibe. It's not a comfy listen that's for sure; there's a palpable tension that crawls and never explode. Very good album imo, I also like the organic drumming, obviously.
