The album is fantastic, indeed, but I do not find it actively depressing or crushing.

The review seems to be a bit off, if I did not know the songs well, I'd probably form a very different idea of what is present there. Especially reading lines like "'Crown' is a brutal, grinding assault with a sludgy, distorted riff..."

I was spinning this album just yesterday, as it happened right after having given Darkher a close listen. Fvnerals do sound more depressed and despondent in comparison to the (too) clean and ethereal feel of Darkher. Maybe that morose side won't appear as obviously in another context though.

Darkher are definitely more ethereal... I also think the review is a bit off, meaning I didn't find the album that depressing or crushing...

Personally I find Darkher more intense then Fvnerals, but nevermind. The emergence of such bands like Darkher, Fvnerals, Ison, King Woman (what else?) lately has been fantastic and hopefully will continue=)))

Is there any cd version of a King Woman album?

No CD version of any of the EPs they've released so far, only analog and bandcamp.

But the first full length of King Woman is coming on Relapse (Spring 2017), and I doubt they'll leave it without a proper CD.

Not very crushing I have to say. Rather relaxing.

I can definitely agree to some of the sentiments expressed in the review. Although I would sum the band up as being more slowcore or post-rock, there is some utterly miserable atmospheric doom in the mix. It doesn't get heavy very often, but when it does, it's pretty damn daunting. This is a very good album.
