Post Need help with buying new guitar!!!

Hey guys. I have tried other forums without any success and now I turn to you for your doom expertise! I have played black metal for years on a Jackson DXMG, but as musical preferences evolve (or degenerate) over time I am much more into doom/sludge metal at the time being. I'd like to keep the Jackson in E standard and buy another guitar which I would tune in B standard. I have been searching the net intensely the past weeks for info about different guitars and equipment of the bands I like, and its no secret that a majority utilizes either LP or the SG. Here the other day I tried a Yamaha AES620 at my local music store and it did sound awesome (except for the too sloppy 10' string gauge which dont do B tuning too well). My big question is: Why is the LP/SG guitars often prefered by detuned bands even if they got the shorter scale length? I have seen tons of people arguing they got this big, fat, muddy, dark sound due to the 24.75" scale length and fat string gauges, but how can it be that a SMALLER scale length produces darker sound than lets say a 28" baritone? :/ I can understand that you lose some clarity and since a smaller scale length requires fatter string gauge you could possibly add some mud and maybe an APPARENTLY darker sound, but since I dont really have a clue I would really like some input here! And if anyone got some recommendations on other 6 string guitars suited to B tuning I would be thankful!

Gibson's sound good in general but I think most people in doom use them because of Black Sabbath. For lower tuned guitars you can't go wrong w/ Schecter. Some people prefer Ibanez and ESP but I'm all about Schecter. Baritone is probably the best for the bottom end sound, or a guitar that can be easily made to be baritone, like the Kenny Hicky Signature Schecter. It's the heaviest, doomiest guitar I've every played and the sustaniac pickup gives you insane and consistent feedback whenever you want it.
