 Re: Your latest/next concert
Do you have a link, where one can find tour dates of doom bands?
Or: how do you make sure you don't miss any shows? Do you sign up @ bands in town or something like that? Does it work?
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

 Re: Your latest/next concert
I saw the band "Black Reunion" a few minutes ago. Google says it is the best European Black Sabbath tribiute band.
And they are right!
And all of that only 1000m from my home. And I REALLY live on the countryside!

 Re: Your latest/next concert
Last weekend, Gary Numan which was awesome. Love his direction on the last few albums. Dark, catchy electro/industrial. Plus a few old favourites thrown in. Great video show despite the medium sized venue, which is something I love about the modern era - technology makes it possible for custom video screen tech to be used on much smaller shows whilst still being cost effective. Next Saturday I have Godspeed You! Black Emperor which I am unbelievably excited for. I have been in love with the band for half my life, since I was 15. But this will be my first time seeing them. Good things coming up next month too, Opeth/Enslaved double header. Seen them both at festivals and can't wait to see them together. Then two days after that is Depeche Mode who are like my favourite band for the last two years, I hardly listen to anything else. And a first time seeing them too. My wifes birthday is between those two gigs, so it will be a fun week

Godspeed You! Black Emperor lived up to expectations, awesome. And the venue was really great too. Added some magic to the experience. Albert Hall, Manchester. Bardo Pond: Liars: Godspeed You! Black Emperor Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and the room Next up in a fortnight or so, Opeth/Enslaved.

 Re: Your latest/next concert
This year's edition of Autumn Souls of Sofia had only two doom bands:
Woebegone Obscured - although their last EP sucked, I enjoyed their show a great deal, it was pretty much perfect. The only downside was the vocalist who was trying too hard to look "evil" (complete with corpsepaint) something which i find stupid in general and completely absurd in doom=)))
Mourning Sun were fantastic again=)))

 Re: Your latest/next concert
November's Doom Days, January edition - last night
Woe unto Me - pretty wonderful, although quite inconsistent, but when they go full-on funeral doom they are great
Evadne - perfect performance, though too fast too often
Eye of Solitude - I was surprised to enjoy their performance quite a lot, considering i really dislike the band. Maybe it was due to them being the slowest band on the bill. Kudos for them for not being afraid to play really as slow as possible, especially being surrounded by quite fast death/doom bands. Also - Daniel managed to show quite an emotional performance despite the totally static grunts he has.
Ophis - the only band I really really like - well, they were simply amazing. Managed to reproduce their extremely heavy, brutal and melodic sound perfectly on stage. Would see them again any time.

 Re: Your latest/next concert
Since I saw that Khemmis will be there: I'm thinking about visiting the Roadburn 2018 on April 19th. But besides Khemmis I only know Hällas. Can anyone recommend / comment any of the other bands?: http://roadburn.com/line-up/(I mean specially Thursday Apr. 19th, but I cannot link it). It would be 560 km driving on one day - must be worth it!

 Re: Your latest/next concert
Earthless are a great psychedelic/space type band. Cult of Luna I used to like - post metal, and they are with Julie Christmas who's band 'Battle of Mice' were pretty good. Converge are very popular but I found it hard to get into them as all their albums seem to be brickwall limited and sound worse than Death Magnetic. My mates band just played with Dawn Ray'd which suggests they are some kind of lefty shouty hardcore. But that's just an assumption based on what his band is like.

 Re: Your latest/next concert
If I had to be there on thursday, I'd go and see Julie Xmas for sure. The last couple of albums by COL are excellent atmo postcore. Very emotional music. Then, I'd go check Stomach Earth for a kick of extreme death doom. Him or Fuoco Fatuo. Both are of the same "middle-of-the road" league, but the sole "extreme" acts on stage that day. Fuoco Fatuo's sound is more compact and monolithic, I don't think much of them.
Weedeater are some typical groovy Louisiana Sludge; there's some vicious blues and a sense of joyful depravity in their tongue-in-cheek doom; might be worth seeing them.
And then, Hooded Menace, it's some catchy death doom, and a very popular act. Must be fun to watch.
All things considered, it'd be Cult Of Luna and Hooded Menace: both make the trip worth of your money and time.

Thank you! It's a good feeling having so many experts around. I hope some day I'll be able to give something back....

 Re: Your latest/next concert
I saw Nadja two nights ago - they played two quite nice tracks, not their heaviest fuzzy stuff but also not the boring ambient they like to release so often.
Wonderful experience, although I enjoyed their previous concert more (but they played Slow Loss back then=)

 Re: Your latest/next concert
Not exactly doom, but some weeks ago I saw Gorecki's "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" with Lisa Gerrard from Dead Can Dance. Slow, bleak and wonderful, one of the best concerts I've been!!

Wo ist denn der Krach? Nah, lots of laid-back stoner rock there. I only know a couple of those bands...
