Awesome! Sorcerer is a great band and this album seems to sound even heavier.

It baffles me that the Tony Martin era Sabbath gets such a bashing when stuff like this is held in such high regard.

Are you speaking of this sample or of the band in general?
I must say I heard the name, but never seriously looked into it. This one song off the new album is good though, but the other stuff I checked afterwards don't really live up to my expectancy. I'm tempted to conclude they have improved.
In any case, epic doom isn't a very well-represented genre and considering the mediocrity of the latest song of Forsaken, this up-coming album of Sorcerer might be better.

Epic isn't a very-well represented? But what about the bands as Below, Capilla Ardiente, Monasterium, Evangelist and many others? :omg:

I don't know Monasterium.. Yes, there're a bunch of bands playing that style, but certainly much less than trad or death doom...

Monasterium is a Polish band, like as Evangelist. Well, I respect your opinion, but I think there are many epic doom bands currently making good sound. :D

Yes sure, but I suspect you misunderstood the wording "well-represented": I wanted to say that there were few epic doom bands (compared to the popularity of other doom styles), and not that there were few good epic doom bands. :;):

Oh, right. Sorry.
I really understood it wrong.

The band and their style in general. Don't get me wrong, I like Sorcerer and others of their ilk but they aren't exactly reinventing the wheel. They are playing that sort of "Headless Cross"/"Tyr"/"Forbidden" (ok, that one was Dio) style stuff mixed up with some Candlemass. Sorcerers' vocalist sounds and harmonises just like Tony Martin. This is no bad thing, and Sorcerer are excellent at what they do. I just think that period of Sabbaths' career is criminally overlooked.

I listened to the track Headless Cross as you mentioned it, well, to me, it's more European Hard Rock à la Scorpion than epic doom. The guitar sound isn't doom at all and the vocal lines have that typical 80's touch, a tad too smooth, lyrical and mechanical even to win my vote.
This Sorcerer track has an obvious wilder and darker edge, although I agree that they don't reinvent the wheel.

That being said, If you like straight Heavy Metal, I guess Headless Cross as an album can proudly stand against other classic stuff.

This track (and I imagine the whole album) sounds like as "Epic Heavy" than like "Epic Doom". Sounds a little... "happy".

What an absurd comparison!

Yeah, if you can show me a Sorpions track that sounds like this I'll be very impressed...and if you can find me one by Def Leppard I'll probably need to sit down and re-evaluate my musical standpoints...

Rather bizarre comparisons but hey, each to their own...

I guess my comparison should be narrowed down to: if this is not doom, it must be heavy metal, this being entirely based on my preconception of the genre that I mostly can't stand.:D
To my ears, there's no possible hesitation about the style: if Sorcerer are classic epic doom, this Black Sabbath track is absolutely not.
It sounds a bit like Europe too, no?
