This is interesting. Brass driven, slow paced track with female vocals (she'll be only on this track):
Ottone Pesante - DoomooD
https://ottonepesante.bandcamp.com/album/doomood

Also two preview tracks from the new JUPITERIAN album:
JUPITERIAN - Protosapien (Atmospheric Sludge/Doom Metal)

Ottone Pesante. It should mean 'the heavy big Otto" in Italian (Giovanni may correct me if I'm wrong)... This is worth a try!

edit: yeah, interesting; I'm a bit septical about the amount of variety this instrument can bring about to the songwriting. If it takes so much room in the other songs, it could eventually gets on my nerves... Let's see.

Mere Humans is a better track than Starless. Happy to see it goes in the right direction. I like very much this band's previous album.

I'll wait until I hear the full album, too. With brass bands I always suspect that the rest of the album is just some ska or something...

On that note, I found a tuba doom band: ORE :) Some songs are more experimental. One of them was even like drum & bass.

(this song: ANTIMONY)

Wrong! :) Ottone is brass, the metal... ottoni (plural) is the ensemble of brass instruments... not sure if you can call a single brass instrument "ottone" in Italian...

Ah, this was a wild guess based on the title of a selection of films of Alberto Sordi I recently bought: l'Albertone, with the augmentative one'. The big Alberto. Couldn't we have the same structure with Otto?
Tell me yes!

Now, something the unwashed villager should be interested in:

Eric Truffaz REVISITE. Eric Truffaz is a French trompetist and his songs are covered by some big names in modern Jazz. I love this album.

Browsing through Black Oath discography. It's an Italian melo trad doom band that I really never listened to with attention. It's simply excellent. Mournful, dignified, wide, and yet all in halftones, devoid of the over-dramatic excesses often found in this brand of epic doom.
Excellent musicianship too..

their latest release:

Dwaal/ gospel of the vile.

Not totally won over by this album; it's a tad rudimentary. But that's not a flaw as I like the simple impact of Alkymist for instance who totally play in the same league. Maybe it's something in the blurred overall tone which flattens the songwriting, reducing his effects.

Yes, you are correct there and I hope you enjoyed Alberto Sordi! :D

Thanks for the recommendation! I was just looking for something relaxing, too. His playing reminded me of Miles Davis on Bitches Brew. He is trying to support the songs instead of his ego.

A slow moving, sad melodic trumpet is quite something. If you know the original Old Boy movie, there is this song from the soundtrack. It helps the scene:

The vengeance series of movies has soundtracks well worth checking out. The ending of lady vengeance has this heart-melting song with female vocals:

The trumpet of Miles Davis has still much more dynamics, his flow is more syncopated, articulated like a natural, spontaneous discourse with blanks, accelerations, slowing downs, hesitations, question and exclamation marks... It's apart. A genius.
But it's true that if he totally shines in this album, he never indulges in a show of strength at the cost of the global effect either. A genius and a tactful man.

Post Re: To what listenest thou?

would you see an album sounding like Forest of Equlibrium? I think Cathedral have killed a gold formula shifting to this idotic stonerish grooviness. Anytime an interesting bit of doomy atmosphere is reached, they ruin it with a goofy vocal line or a stupidly happy riff.

Another shot of FOE would be cool.

edit: listening to Triglathena; excellent surprise, this new death doom band.

Check it out, it's better that many turds bandcamp usually exhibits.

The first track from this noise/drone doom thing. It's heavy Finnish weirdness. 2nd track is the most boring noise, though:

Oksennus - Työn orjat sorron yöstä nouskaa
https://oksennus.bandcamp.com/album/ty- ... st-nouskaa

HAIKAI NO KU - Temporary Infinity
Instrumental quite heavy psychedelic rock

The first song is indeed quite nice, I like the raw sound and the grunts, though at times it goes too primitive for me. No so nice is their communist propaganda (something that way too many nice bands are guilty of lately, including this site=)

On topic: lots of My Shameful and their wonderful follow up Oakmord=)

Tchaikovsky - Pathetique
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZmLx4w2VHo

Offerstigen - Det Verkliga Regnet (Sludge, NYP)
https://offerstigen.bandcamp.com/album/ ... iga-regnet

Church Burner - Satan's Ritual Under a Full Moon
Lo-fi, ambient with some BM. Compares himself to Abruptum which I'll have to check out next. NYP
https://churchburner666.bandcamp.com/al ... ull-moon-2

Arvalastra - The Key to the Shrine of Putrefaction
Black/Doom very primitive and cool. Just bass, acoustic guitar, drums and vocals. No shrillness. Mostly mid-tempo. I like the melodies a lot. NYP.
https://arvalastra.bandcamp.com/album/t ... trefaction

Vivaldi - Red Classics
Cheap compilation. Curious about classical music now. I find it's perfect music for cleaning the flat, too.

Pölka Tülk - Pöⵍⵅⵄ ⵟüⵍⵅ
Really noisy instrumental rock/metal, check out the 4th track for some drone doom. 1st track is the "catchiest". NYP
https://brainpussyfication.bandcamp.com/album/po-u

Senor Coconut, again. He's some German guy living in the US haha
