Another project by the Drown guy. It's calm, fuzzy blackened doom metal with lots of synths:

Aureole - Alunar

REVELATIONS OF RAIN - Akrasia

What do you think of it, Merch? I saw you gave it a listen recently.

mmm.... it's ok, but not as good as their early work... but I'm a bit of a sucker for this kind of Slavic/Russian doom...

yes, it's less strong, more subdued, there's less inventivity in the songwriting. But it's pleasant. It flows gently.

It's still a band that is lacking a real identity, whereas for instance A younger project like Self Hatred has found a personnal way to tackle his doom.

yes, I agree with that! Revelations of Rain never really realised their potential... but Akrasia is still a pleasant album... listening to it again now! Next will be their 2009 one...

It's the album that follows right behind on YT. And you'll tell, me, but 10 minutes a enough to get really hooked. They've lost quite a bit of steam with time.

it's the sophomore, self-titled... and yes, they have lost a lot of steam over the years... I got initially hooked with their debut, "Marble Shades of Despair"... 2007... that will come after... :)

Drastus: La Croix de Sang

Vehement and hypnotic Bm; it's the album of the year on a French website.

Raw sludge:

GAWTHROP - s/t

And the japanese metronome-of-doom band klamerin suggested:

Legion Of Andromeda - Iron Scorn

Bethmoora/ Demo 2016

Damn! How could I miss this? It's awesome. Slow but intense, almost religious in its solemn crushingness.

Some nice doomy gothic metal from Latvia... the clean vocals are a bit weak, but I like it musically...

https://gospelofdeath.bandcamp.com/albu ... -to-suffer

Tasty gurgling growls over a strange string-lead folk-ish mid-tempo doom. For connoisseurs who savour weirdness.

For me, it's best relaese of the year so far. The voice is very similar to Fungoid Stream's, which is just a treat!

We've already mentioned Konvent a few times here. Yes, it's good. I'm looking forward to listening to the whole album.

I do not understand your love for gurgling vocals at all=)

Everything in this album is brilliant except for the said vocals, but fortunately they are not used all the time and are not nearly as annoying as Fungoid Stream's so it's tolerable=)
