 Re: To what listenest thou?
I'm not too keen on the Alkymist as there is too little doom and it's a bit too much mind-numbing for its own good. For me in this style a similar but far better album is "They Became the Falling Ash" by Ethereal Shroud. Here the ethereal vibe is much more prevalent. As for Mizmor, I like them quite a lot and did not know that a new album will be out so soon, need to check it out immediately=)))

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Yes, Ethereal Shroud is a very interesting project, the latest album is quite expensive too... I need to be in a special state of mind to listen to it, it's very cold and austere.
On a side note: the guy in the comments section of the Alkymist bandcamp page compares it to The Ruins of Beverast, and he's right that in some sections, there're some guitar lines that do sound like coming from a TROB album... I think you never made a comment about this project yourself, klamerin; I'd be curious to know what you think of it though...
And nope, I didn't know Mizmor; cheers!

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I've tried to get into The Ruins of Beverast a couple of times, trying their doomiest albums but I could never really enjoy them. Similar to Blood Geometry by Elysian Blaze - another extremely acclaimed album that just does not click with me, no matter how much I invest into it=)
I'm a sucker for black/doom, so I've learned to tolerate fast parts, but I think they are just a bit too much on the black metal side.
As for Mizmor - I think it could be the best project coming from the Portland Woodsmoke-related circle (Hell, Merkstave, Elu of the Nine, Münn...) - it's quite sludgy apart from the obvious black metal influences...

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I'd say there're as many fast parts in Mizmor's latest than in TROB's Exuvia... It's an outstanding album. Mismor is more crushing, but at tad less subtle, imo.

Urna - mors imperatrix mundi
It's a good album even if less inventive than the follow-ups.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Exuvia has surprisingly large amount of slow parts, that are also good, but somehow the overall album just does not feel doom to me. Maybe Mizmur just focus more on the overall misery, while Exuvia sounds a bit transcendent lets say, not sure how to put it=)

 Re: To what listenest thou?
TROB has evolved a lot: from the first album owards, it's become more and more intricate, less desperate in tone and less blurred in texture, but each new effort is doomier than the previous one. It's a complex body of work that keeps me interested. The sole slight misstep is the at times too-full-of-clichés Blood Vault.
Yes, Exuvia hjas an esoteric side that you could call "transcendent. The comparison to Elysian Blaze is quite smart in fact! ..; Wasn't this project supposed to put out a new album?

V:28/ Soulsaviour (a free download on the bandcamp page of the band - very good industrialized dark metal) https://v28band.bandcamp.com/album/soulsaviour

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Funeral Moth have a new EP out. It's just one 10-minute long song and it's quite strange. The cover art is rather stupid, the vocals are weird and annoying almost at all times, only the instruments are nice and typical of the band. Not sure if they are able to redeem the whole thing though...

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I have it that one; their first two albums are available for free on their BC. I'd say Soulsaviour is the best, then 3, then 1.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Drug honkey I would never have checked out for the name alone. I'll give it more more of a listen later. Sounds intriguing. Just finished listening to: Hierophant - The tome (amazing! Imagine this with better production) Today before that (because I need to make some room): Sunn - Monoliths and dimensions of boredom (void and white 2 is good but who needs their other stuff?) Torture Wheel / Uncertainty Principle - split (it bored me as wheel o god ) Uncertainty Principle - Grand unification energy (quite good. Intro track is waaaay too long) Uncertainty Principle - Litany against fear I actually bought TW and UP from nulll back in the day.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
The collabortation these three gentlemen did,TW ,UDOM and UP, named The Nulll Collective is ace. Just top-notch quirky doom.

With the exception of Sunn, all excellent stuff here. I really love Torture Wheel, it's quite sad the guy made so few songs. The split is also amazing, it features one of the best songs by UN - Antilight=) As for UN, I usually listen to Sonic Terror or Distant, really wonderful=)
