Vanha/ melancholia.

The more I listen to it, the more I see its qualities. A song like Fade Away has a mellow funerary vibe that's pretty spot-on. In this style, I think it's better than the new Forest of Shadows which annoys me quite a bit.

I really like this album despite it's lack of metal. Swansongs is my favorite however. One day I might find Joy Parade. Serpentine was my introduction to the band and I really like that album too. Stefanie has such a unique voice.

Abysskult/ khaogenesis

A marvellous ambient FD; stuff like Ea and Yhdarl come to mind; mesmerizing.

Post Re: To what listenest thou?

All synth/cyber/trance metal I can get my hands upon
New discoveries:
- Quietus "The Technocracy" - female fronted gothic/power metal meets synths
- Rage of Light - same, only heavier, power metal / MDM with synths
- Silent Descent "Turn to Grey" - MDM, a bit of metalcore and quite some synths. Has a few really good tracks (Under the Eagle, Voices, Rob Rodda)
- Black Light Discipline - cross between metal, synths and a bit of gothic rock I guess. Pretty decent
- Ground Zero System - more of an industrial metal, but with "synthier" synths than usual industrial metal stuff and more metal than NDH stuff
- Re:aktor "Zero Order" - synth groove metal?
- Black Comedy "Instigator" - synth metal with lots of different bits and pieces, but not always well executed (especially harsh vocals - not exactly to my liking)
- ID:VISION - cyberblack? cyberdeath? More on metal than on synth side, but good
- Deconstructing Sequence - cosmic blackened death metal with occasionally very synthy keyboards. Or something like that. Pretty interesting
- Vortech - death / black with occasional synths, though not very competent in the synth department, but getting more of and better at that in later albums

Well this one features the singer of Saturnus, I like his voice. It's mellow, unremarkable, but it gently flows and I quite like that feeling from time to time!

That's their best album. The first two Doom:Vs albums are alright for somewhat boring doom/death but Earthless was nothing short of a masterwork. If dudes next album is half that good I'll be impressed.

NP:
Supershine - Supershine

Well... although I agree with the comment about the moniker, the first album, "Aeternum Vale", came out in 2006 and, as far as I know, it was part of the "new wave" of death doom... so, maybe boring, but quite important, especially because of its links with Draconian...

I like the sophomore as well. Not so much the debut.

Funny how the reviews on MA are totally not handling the concept of Funeral doom right, as usual.

Listening to this awesome unhinged electro dub project: PRAIRIE. Denovali's catalogue floors me!

I still like the albums but they pale in comparison to the third release. Plus Johan Ericson's decision to try and sing was folly. His growls are his strength. Plus all the doom from Draconian seemed to be found in Doom:vs. I'm not sure why they made such a hard left into the over crowded field of Gothic/doom. I stopped listening to Draconian after A Rose for the Apocalypse came out. It was better than Turning Season Within but not what I wanted to hear from this band.

Agreed. They're wrong on a great many things over there.
