I read somewhere that the new Earth - Full Upon Her Burning Lips - is a return to more guitar based sound. I listened twice trying to find something interesting without much success=)

I remember that! Back then, I compared the album to a pot of yogurt; I think this is the silliest comparison I've ever made, and I'm rather good at that!

Just finished the album. Still excellent but not an easy listening.

This comparsion makes sense to me.

If you have only two kinds of doom: easy and not-so-easy to listen to.

Easy doom is like water. Not so easy doom is like yogurt. To stir yogurt is harder.

You need a spoon to stir. Now, in German "Löffel" (spoon) is a figure of speech for "ear". Slapping someone's ear means "eins auf die Löffel geben". In Dutch "iemand een oorvijg verkopen" ( )

So it's harder on the ears.

Curiously the review on d-m.com compared this to fruit syrup.

That's my review! I'm never short of compliments.

Didn't expect to witness a new Tool album.

I'd like to hear more of it. This tracks brings nothing new to the table, nor is it really inspired imo.

Once called Dresden/ Leningrad, the band has really made some remarkable progress!

Yup. Not bad, but not overly exciting. They already perfected their style with Lateralus. So unless they'd try something completely new, I didn't expect anything groundbreaking anyway.


edit: But they're still the kings of idiotic packages...

This sounds like an aprils fools' joke.

Did they shoot the footage in so small a resolution that you have to watch it on a 4" screen to not get bothered too much.

The vocals on ISON remind me a bit of darkher. Another album for the ever growing wishlist. Thanks.
