New Swallow the Sun. can't say I'm thrilled. It's languid and sweet up till bland, almost embarassing sentimentalism.

The album is out (at least on Spotify)... it's the usual stuff, a bit less post-doom, with a more traditional StS sound in places. It's pleasant, but nothing new.

I'll give it a new listen today. But I fele this is one of the weakest, most mechanical ones... as vapid and hollow as Hope I feel...I miss Songs from the North part 3!

I like the new Somnent - rather sombre and subdued... although the clean vocals are not great... :)

Done my homework: All very good musicians, they have their own sound, but they're unable to reinvent themselves, and this album in particular is terribly vain and weak.

Moonflowers has nice visuals, so it's mildly engaging viewing experience, but as soon as I change the tab and leave only the music I loose any interest. But I did not like Songs from the North part 3 also. And listening to their previous albums - they all sound kinda the same, even going as back as The Morning Never Came... not my band for sure=)

These days I'm mainly listening to Virgin Black, lots of Virgin Black. I'm mostly inspired by their renewed activity re-releasing their old albums, for now only digitally. Now this is a stellar band - totally unique and utterly mesmerizing. With the exception of Pianissimo, all of their releases are amazing, even the odd early demos have a lot of charm.

They are definitely running out of steam...

Yes, them and Unholy are two of the most unique extreme doom bands outthere.

Listening now to Sombre Romantic on their BC

this album made me think of the Gault; it's a lighter version, far less tortured, but it has a hypnotic quality that carries a real anxiety. One other very fine example of this neo-gothwave that is thrilling me these last years.
