 Re: To what listenest thou?
A guy that explicitly labels his music Doomgaze:
The plastic two-note choir is very dull... The rest is bad imo.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
My doomgaze enquiry is over says as much about myself as it. Too monotonous (as defined by me) in short. I’d listen to it with no other choices in ‘metal’. This evening was all anaal nathrakh for me. Knew about them from a suggestion in last couple of years and finally tried them recent weeks. With a suitable mood as per any other music I have to say they keep black metal alive in my eyes. And as the saying goes... something in the water in Birmingham. Effective black metal...

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Wisp is actually done by the guy behind Ethereal Shroud, lately he's been more into drama than creating quality music, so the result is kinda expected...
As for the doomgaze - this is still better than a lot of the bands referred by the guy from that doomgaze article, which I found to be be pure shoegaze with no doom whatsoever (apart from the well-known doom bands of course=)
Today I listened to the Dirge's Vanishing point - their last album with rarities, outtakes, etc - seems only for hardcore fans and not really worth it, considering the amount of proper brilliant material we already have of them.
I'm also streaming the new Mourning Dawn album trying to form an opinion, as it does not directly grab me as much as is expected by this band=)

Uner the Soil/ the still forest bathed in mist Simple vintage one-man FD. Quality stuff. The project was called Hirsute before. https://enterthesoil.bandcamp.com/

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I remember Hirsute rather vaguely, but this album is really a mixed bag - overall it is pretty nice with rather outstanding guitars at times, but it also has some quite annoying features like the completely unnecessary blast-beats and the chugging guitars (I do not understand what appeal is to be found in these kind of simple chugging guitars that so many use...)

I've been mostly listening to the new Fuoco Fatuo, which as its predecessor requires focus=)

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I've listened to it twice in a row. I find it pleasant, but unremarkable. It has a nice flow, nice atmospheres, but nothing really grabbed me. Maybe it's too subtle for me?

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Am I wrong in wanting a little bit of evolution in bands' music generally instead of rehashing the same (boring) formula? I can't distinguish this album from the others... maybe it's me...

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I don't think you're wrong! Now discovering this atmo funerary doom album that I find way more achieved and interesting than the latest of The Slow Death that is very much comparable style-wise: https://adbts.bandcamp.com/album/a-death-by-the-seasideI also keep listening to the new Woe Unto Me; it's a flawless melo doom album.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Hymns of Aporia by Oneironoia.
Some Unique experimental doom, lyrical, solemn, droney, it's an exciting melting pot of various influences.
It reminds of the baroque flow of Nightly Gale.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
I do not think the new Fuoco Fatuo is similar to the previous, on the contrary. The new interlude songs for example are a novelty and weirdly the best part of the album. Overall it is very good, but much easier and accessible than Backwater (still much better than Oneironoia and A Death By The Seaside=))))

 Re: To what listenest thou?
Ophis discography.
All full lengths are stunning, with the exception of Abhorrence in Opulence, which is way too fast and energetic, but fortunately The Dismal Circle makes up for it with the slowest and saddest sound they've made and maybe the best of the bunch. I really hope their next album will be along the lines of The Dismal Circle.

The new Kauan album is available for streaming: https://kauan.bandcamp.com/album/ice-fleetMuch better than the previous one, but still far from their best releases.

 Re: To what listenest thou?
True, those melancholic somber atmospherics are really good. It reminds me a bit of the overall structure of the latest album of Abske Fides where similar "abstract" moments where used to the best claustrophobic effect. You know what? I kept returning to this Fuoco Fatuo and I like it better with each new listen.
