It's Stoner Doom with vintage hippie rock influence. XD
Terrific band! This even sounds more Doom than many rock-ish doomy acts like Mourn and Lost Breed. :sarcasm:

Does anyone know where to buy the latest album by Shinin' Shade? I find it pretty enjoyable!

I got mine from Bandcamp, but it seems they're not doing physical copies any more. Amazon still have them, but not cheap - Discogs might be your best bet.

A couple of weeks ago, I asked the band if the could sell me their latest; they offered to send their two releases together. Frankly, that's an offer I could have done without: I don't like the debut ep. What really killed the deal though was the price. A shame. I didn't buy anything, of course.

Why, what was the price?

I must have deleted all the mails I got from them because I can't find them; it was, shipping costs included, above 30€, I think 35€...
Anyway, as I said, I was only interested in the latest album, and I had only asked the price for that one... I didn't like the fact they tried to flog the debut as well.

I would have reacted in a similar way, I guess. It's way too expensive anyway.

a news I read today: The Wounded Kings let go their female singer and, to make me really happy, they'll go on with George Birch again!

Never liked them, with or without the female singer... but I know you have a soft spot for them, so I'll let you off... :D

I'm only mentioning them because i have just got acquainted with them via their latest effort SECTA (well, it's from 2013) and was so impressed by their unique style and the incorporation of the excellent double female vocals that I immediately ordered that album, something that rarely happens to me...

I did the same. Very good band they are. Don't know if they're onto something right now. I guess a third album should be on its way...

edit: ha! They did a cover of the Beatles! And it slays! :dooom:

Post Re: Female-fronted Doom (an attempt at an exhaustive list)

I enjoy Riti Occulti a lot. I only wish they were a little bit more inclusive of the clean singing. I feel as if the clean vocalist's contributions are way too sparse, which is a shame, because she has an amazing voice. She seems to have a very good range between sultry and classical lines, which makes for a very distinctive sounding tone. Kind of similar to Mandy Andresen, and Mandy is easily one of my favorite singers in metal altogether.

Somehow, I managed to totally forget about Rose Kemp (drone/doom metal). It's like if Madder Mortem were to do a collaboration album with Earth (Phase 3-era). Wicked stuff.

Spoiler: show

I would like to also mention Trees of Eternity. I'm not sure if you guys would consider them too light to be Doom, but I personally find them to be pretty straightforward Atmospheric Doom. (RIP Aleah, by the way :crying: )

Spoiler: show

Labyrinthus Noctis (Atmospheric Doom)
Spoiler: show

Denun (Atmospheric Doom)
Spoiler: show

Even Vast (Gothic/Doom)
Spoiler: show

Mount Salem (Stoner/Doom)
Spoiler: show

A Tree of Signs (Stoner/Doom)
Spoiler: show

Heavy Temple (Stoner/Doom)
Spoiler: show

Off-topic: is it me, or has this giant wave of retro/psychedelic doom bands over the past ten years progressed in the same way as gothic metal did in the 90's/early-2000's?
