It's just that Bapho posted the wrong video... the last album is great, with harsh vocals too... the video Bapho posted is from 2005 and they were still rather traditional in their approach... listen to this... although, you might find the clean vocals still a bit difficult to digest... :D

She has a very manly voice... :p

Seriously, I like old Isole more, but the newer stuff sounds pretty good too, its hard to keep up with all these bands!

I finally gave Undersmile's album a proper listen: inaccessible at first, I slowly got into the flow and atmosphere of the music. They certainly have an identity of their own and I'm hearing a lot of potential, BUT after the first few tracks you've pretty much heard it all, and they just keep delivering more of the same. The album simply doesn't want to end! It's far too long for what it actually delivers. There's little to no stylistic variation, and the atmosphere is derived almost entirely from the vocals while the instrumental backbone of the music is actually fairly basic most of the time. The entire album sounds like a single 80-minute long track. Still, good band.

As I wrote elsewhere, they're not really my type, although one of 'em seems alright at least. :;): But ladies with an interest in Doom automatically receive a huge bonus, of course.

Funnily enough, some of those suggestions had already been mentioned in our internal pre-discussion; I wonder what happened to them.

Well, to pick one example, everybody hated Castle except me... :(

I don't hate Castle, I have both albums; but I don't think they belong to Doom... Smae with Univers217. I have to listen to all that stuff, but some have already been added to the list.

@Broken Anatomy: I still have some problem with jerky guitar lines in your songs... At some point, it becomes a bit messy and the flow is broken. Too bad, because there're lots of good things too...

@ baphomet:
Yeah, I went for a kind of disjointed sound, but I'm also a pretty crappy guitarist, haha.
Workin' at it though.
By the time another Ennoea release comes out, I should be relegated to the only part I'm genuinely comfortable taking, which is vocals (as long as I can source some goddamn members....)

7th Moon (Gothic/Doom Metal) and yes, she's both singing and growling. :p

oh yeah, I can see the good excuse: "yeah you know, it's disjointed, like it's art you see, don't question art".... when you suck in fact! :D

But yep, you growl like an old man dying of throat cancer, which at you age is a bit worrying...

er... sorry, but not doom! Dark Metal it is. I don't want to sound like :diktat: , but what do the others think?

I really like that song though.

Dark Gothic Metal... with a bit of Doom thrown in when the harsh vocals appear after the 4th minute... :diktat: good song indeed, though...

Liked it, but far more Goth than Doom...

7th Moon are a tricky band to categorise. I briefly thought of them when the project of compiling this list first came up, but opted against mentioning them since, as the others have stated, the Doom elements are quite marginal. On the other hand, it never touches upon full-blown Goth Metal, either. Weird band... But quite solid. The organ in that song is annoying, though. I guess that's why I never bought the album (it's available at a ridiculously low price from Amazon Marketplace).

BTW, I listened to the new Broken Anatomy release this morning and was positively surprised - not bad at all. That other project of yours also sounds promising (apart from the disjointed sections :p). Good work! And as bapho said, the vocals are ultra-grim. :)
