Any thoughts on the new HellLight album?
Ha? Goofy, cheesy, a regression, an evolution, utterly beautiful or utterly ridiculous? what?

A mix if those... personally, I can't get into it... I think it's the clean vocals...

Not utterly anything; it's boring, dull... I don't understand this band; never got into it either; overlong and quite cheesy occasionally.

HellLight? LOVE their stuff, been in touch with the main man off/on over the past maybe several months or so. I dig it a lot. Love the mix of clean/brutal vocals and overall vibe of the music. To each his own though. More for me! ;-)
Hi Baphomet ;-)

They do posses their own style, I'll give them that, but the new album is such a let down compared to the previous one from 2010. I was expecting so much from these guys...

Re: Any thoughts on the new HellLight album?
Listened to latest, now listening to - And Then- The Light Of Consciousness Became Hell and it has a slower vibe and a bit darker (more gutteral vox I guess). Still, similar style (to me) and awesome as is (to me again) their/his latest release. I am impressed with the effort they put into the release, especially coming from Brazil. Not many bands are at this level of quality IMHO. There are a lot of bands there that do deserve exposure and what not. But when I first came across HellLight (I think on a compilation over the past year or 18 months) and it just struck me as being semi-unique and awesome for the orchestral arrangements, clean (well done IMHO) and gutteral vocals and the overall atmosphere....that I think is (to me again) the biggest part while absorbing their music. I just let myself fall into the atmosphere.
And was that the one to compare to (release-wise)?
Mike

Re: Any thoughts on the new HellLight album?
Yes, I was referring to The Light Of Consciousness Became Hell, which blew me out of the water with its unique approach to doom, its power and its refreshing sound. I love this album and I think it was one of the best albums of that year. The new one, however, is everything the aforementioned album was, only a couple of notches simpler and less engaging, with some really goofy parts, and a display of musical material that leaves much to be desired in terms of inspiration and musical ideas. But yeah, I'll keep the new one in my private collection. If you want to read more about my opinion of the album, before it gets reviewed on dm.com, if at all, please visit the following link: http://www.chroniclesofchaos.com/articl ... ?id=2-6734And then here: http://www.chroniclesofchaos.com/articl ... ?id=2-6269

Re: Any thoughts on the new HellLight album?
I still like the epic-ness of the clean vocals, the heaviness of the music, overall tone to it (latest one) and enjoy all their releases that I have at this time. It was a bit refreshing actually to come across this band (I forget if it was a compilation track or from someone here now that I think about it). But either way, I find them all enjoyable when I listen to them and glad I found them. Another good one from south america to say the least about them! Wish we had more that were active on this forum to check out their stuff and help get the word out about them.
Mike
