If I like what I'm hearing, I keep listening to it... and then I make the decision whether to buy the album or not. I never make a decision based on just hearing a couple of tracks...

Tha latest example of such an album that didn't click at once and ended up being one of the my favourite releases of 2016 was Abske Fides' O Sol Fulmina a Terra... It works in both directions: sometimes I don't get it, and other times, I get all excited to eventually realize I made a mistake... I tend to only buy think that I really care for though. The rest is downloaded from the promo networks this site works with (or from pay-what-you want offers) - enjoyable stuff that aren't good enough to be worth any financial investment. But even then, I make a selection and keep my harddisk tidy.

And yet an other release to pin up to your calendar: Talbot's 3rd full-length; Seeing how good this track is, I surely won't miss it!

they've got a talent for making the simplest music really hypnotic. There's personality in there.

Here's another rec for this thread. A really good epic doom band, without all the embarassing bombast, but far more, displaying a dark grandeur and some rich melodic ideas. Yet another new project I have to bookmark...!

The Children's Crusade is the best song in my opinion. Great album!

Indeed Wyrd!
There is nothing new in their music, but that oppressive and cavernous sound is really great! :bmbeer:

Post Re: The General Recommendation Thread

Californian sludge/funeral doomsters CHRCH, who released the incredible Unanswered Hymns a couple of years back, has a new album coming up. This seems to be a great year for more stonery and sludgy sounding doom bands with female vocalists, a lot of awesome bands have come out of the wood work.

Has anybody heard the new Omit "Medusa Truth, Part 2"? Opinions?

That it should be utterly boring would be no surprise... From Omit I only like the MDB cover they did for our (still for sale) tribute.

That's the only song I have heard by them. Do you not recommend the rest?
