Randomly came across this super obscure death/doom band from Argentina called Ejecucion that recorded a single album in 1998 and then split up. It reminds me a bit of Ceremonium and Morgion, though with a slight Medieval vibe to it that is really cool.

I Read Ejaculation

The main riff and the drums have that typical Bathory feeling. Cool track.

Somehow, I get the feeling that the band got that joke a lot, which led to them breaking up. :D

Here's some more spacious sounding doom with dreamy female vocals. I think this has become one of my favorite niches of the genre. :D

The upcoming Xoresth sounds good! It reminds of the super occult, mesmerizing sound of Dictator...

Post Re: The General Recommendation Thread

Remember Temple of Abandonment and their great demo from a couple of years ago? Well obviously they are tired of playing pure funeral doom anymore and on their second demo they add a ton of ultra fast parts, so that you don't get bored too easily=)

I'd rather listen to the first one, but this has some great moments also, especially on the second track:

I could not find anything depressive there, since 2002 or 2003 (when I read the review) I keep asking my self.. did I miss something there??

I think he must've meant it's a depressing experience knowing you're about to hear some Cathedral. A band whose only real upside is that they're not Electric Wizard, in my opinion...

Sorry to necro an old post, but was looking through my older post to find the recommendations i got for stoner and sludge doom and saw Mike's reply which I apparently I did not see at that time :D

https://doomedandstoned.bandcamp.com

A bandcamp page that compiles a series of Doom bands by country; brilliant idea; I love that kind of stuff and it's actually definitely worth a check! (I am onto the German one, and it introduced me to Ursular who saved the day - ethereal female-fronted Stoner Doom (something for Dante :;): ); and I've good hope there're more like them)

Inner Dawn Foundation was recently reviewed here as having bad production, but good potential.

They released a single song EP which is quite fantastic (reminds me a bit of another new Russian band Шишкин Лес/Cone Forest, not sure why=)

There are not too many unfortunately...

If you refer to the early to mid Methadrone where it's all fuzzy then the obvious are Nadja and The Angelic Process. Ocean of Ghosts and fragment. also has similar stuff. There is also this single song that is total Angelic Process worship - youtube.com/watch?v=6ezUizDtRGk

But if you refer to his last album Better Living (Through Chemistry) then I do not have a single rec (though some of the late era Jesu comes close=).

Nadja's Aidan Baker solo stuff might also have something in common, but I'm not too familiar and he releases a ton of stuff so who knows=)

I knew the debut album by Sinistra since its review by Arnstein and still listen to it from time to time, but I was not aware there was a sophomore out ten years ago that is really fantastic! Raw, oppressive, with very strong industrial undertones.

New Dirge has come out right in time to find its place in your best-of list:

I'm still uncertain about this album. It's good no doubt, but I had much higher expectations based on the previous one. This one does not feel as atmospheric, cinematic and soaring as Hyperion, which was simply massive in terms of scope.

Or maybe it requires more time=)

This one is maybe more assertive, less subdued, but massive? it is for sure! Their songwriting is continuously evolving while even increasing this overall excellent mix of melancholy and punch I love about the genre- never their guitar play has sounded catchier, imo.

This makes me think There's also the latest album by Morne that fits into the same category - although more crust-y; I'm giving it a go right away!

Another album that went under my radar the last year:
https://abysskvlt.bandcamp.com/

it confirms this band's super strong qualities in shaping baroque, gloomily spiritual FD. I see it like a mix between Ea and Abstract Spirit, couldn't dream of better godfathers...!

An Italian blackened Funeral doom act that reminds me of Ysigim... Something in the hypnotic quality of the meandering guitar lines; a bit too monotonous though...
