Be sure to check out that excellent dark doom project: NEKHEM. It's quite subdued, but intense and with a touch of obscure esoterism. It's a slowburner, they really give the best of them in the third track, imo.

This EP by Sainte Vermine is really nice; great atmosphere and good ideas:
It's packed with ideas, it's admirable! You think you gonna have to cope with some primordial ugliness, and then it takes you by surprise with a weird twist... I didn't know Sainte Vermine at all... It makes me think of an ethnic version of Rigor Sardonicous.

It's you who were expecting new ideas, I just mentioned "ideas", good ones I thought.
correct... but what's the point of ideas in music if they are not new?

Re: Free Downloadable Doom Albums
ideas are enough for me in a musical frame that can be as monotonous and repetitive as FD's.

and the gurgling vocals, well...
Well, I admit the vocals are sometimes a bit cringy, but otherwise I really like this EP. Second track in particular is really enjoyable, IMHO.

The vocals are the reason why I'm comparing them to Rigor Sardonicous. It all has a vintage, bedroom smell that brings back a puff of nostalgia.

Haha yes, that's also what I was thinking, the vocals really have this typical Bedroom Doom feel, and to be honest I can see how it could be a huge flaw for some people. I've seen far worse, though.

Re: Free Downloadable Doom Albums
Is it really Doom ? Or is it only slow Experimental Ambient Depressive Black Metal ? I'm not entirely sure, but it's so great and doomy I can't help but share it here:
