Hehe, you've picked my favourite Fever Ray song=)))) Her main band is The Knife, which is much more weird then bleak, but worthy nonetheless..

As for Chelsea Wolfe, I'd pick this song:

Btw, anyone familiar with Diamanda Galás' discography - which record is a good place to start (some of the less unnerving stuff possibly...)?

1986 – The Divine Punishment
1986 – Saint of the Pit

Are good places for beginners. If you are into some heavy and dark (non melodic) avantgarde, go to her live albums like Plague Mass (this one was actually recorded within a church or a cathedral, if I'm not mistaken). This will kick your ass.

In all truth, Diamanda Galas is the bleakest of all chicks, the godmother and undisputed queen of the damned...

She's possessed by a thousand demons! She speaks in tongues! Unbelievable, I'm exhausted by her performance, I think one has to wintess it live; on disc, I couldn't stand very long her unstoppable devastating energy:

Spoiler: show

Haha, quoted for truth...

Baphomet voiced the sentiments generated by the impact of her "music"/performance much better than myself...It's more of an experience than the plain old good enjoyment of listening to music. It's immersive and spiritual and feels kinda demonic, like listening to something that's unhealthy, filthy and not very good for one's health, both mental and physical...

Her live performances are too disturbing for me, like The Litanies of Satan which was the only thing I was familiar with (and turned off=). But the albums wyrd recommended are a bit more accessible=)

How about Nico, I love this song:

Came across this Portuguese band the other day, female-fronted... pretty good, IMO...

BTW, I ended up ordering the ISON EP after all, but I'm starting to get worried: two weeks after placing my order, I still haven't received a shipping confirmation...

Cruel Wonders, another female-led project, very simple musical frame: lots of acoustic guitar parts over a somewhat subdued gloomy rhythmic section. It has a genuine melancholic feel.

Cruel Wonders is a great find, the acoustic guitars annoy me, but the rest of the instruments and the vocals make up for this=))

I also like the Sinistro album a lot, will definitely check their first one too=)

A Japanese duo making some sort of weird drone-pop with quite nice ethereal vocals, I'm quite mesmerized=)))

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but: still nothing! They haven't replied to my e-mail, either. I'll wait a few days more, but then I guess I'll have to contact PayPal about a refund. I must say this is very disappointing; it wasn't an easy decision to begin with to pay this much for an EP! Has anyone else ordered from them recently?

(Edit: I checked their Bandcamp page again and it says there that the CD "ships out within 30 days". Okaaay, that's an interesting shipping policy. Guess I'll have to wait a little longer until I give up on it...)

I'm quite vague about my shipping times too. You gotta remember, Bandcamps are run by bands - not businesses. I'm just a guy, and not a stereo-typically punctual and organised German guy either :;): , a lazy guy who despises the post office more than anything else in existence (well, equally as much). So my shipping times are pretty much 'Will ship on my wifes next day off'.

Well, to be honest, if you're going to sell stuff, you have to be reliable about it to some extent. You can't just offer something, take money for it and then refuse to deliver the goods, or have people wait indefinitely. It has nothing to do with being, or not being, a punctual and organised German guy (which is a stereotype anyway: here, too, people tend to make you wait); rather, it's a simple matter of good manners. Having people wait for over a month without any reaction at all just isn't appropriate, especially if they've made the extra effort of contacting you about it through several channels. Seems like they don't give a shit about people buying their CDs. As you may have guessed, now that the 30 days are long over, I still haven't received anything, so I've opened a case with PayPal. I would have been happy with a short message to the effect that, for whatever reason, there'll be a certain delay but they're on it, but since they're not reacting at all, I can only assume they're ripping me off. And 15 euros do hurt my budget if I don't get anything in return.

Not normal indeed. A good way to discourage people to buy physical albums.

I agree - 30 days is a little excessive, especially if they didn't even send it in that time.

Was more defending my 5 working days policy, which to some probably seems outrageous. "Why is this guy in his bedroom not able to deliver within the hour via drone like Amazon can?".

Five working days is perfectly reasonable, I think, especially if you're just a guy selling his band's merch rather than a full-fledged distro. Anyway, I hope for their sake the delay is due to some sort of personal tragedy or whatever - otherwise I have zero tolerance for it.

Fantastic band! Caught them at Damnation last year (first time hearing them at the gig too), and the vocalist has some great stage presence.

Taken from the referenced bands in the Zaraza interview:

Show of Bedlam - not that bleak, but the vocals sound a lot like Julie Christmas' so it fits the bill=)

Gazelle Twin - weird bleakish electro-pop

Denovali keep mentioning this band in their ads, but I never bothered checking them out, now it's done, and it definitively belongs here, Esben and the Witch:

Spoiler: show

And these seem right here too:

Switchblade Symphony
Spoiler: show

Black Mare:
Spoiler: show

And finally this outstanding project that I'll have to carefully listen to:
