New playlist's running! It is not strictly stiking to the latest reviews posted... And there's at least one intruder... :D

New playlist is up.

It's one of our occasional nostalgia themes, so here's a selection of tracks from ten years gone.
Be interesting to hear what you missed out on first time around, what you were actually buying at the time, and which of these you think have stood the test of time...
But it is a doom forum, so I'm not exactly expecting to be snowed under with replies :D

Would you believe it, I have all but four of those albums! The only band I don't know nothing about is Leather Nun America and it makes me curious to hera more from them.
The The Eternal's song you picked kind of arose my interest for this album which has been a total flop at the time of its release. Not a band that I cherish though.
And the playlist made me wonder why My Lament didn't go on releasing music and what happened to Virgin Black!

The disappearance of Virgin Black is one of the saddest things that happened to doom=/

New playlist - samples of recently-reviewed albums for your delectation.

There's also a guest track on request, by Frozen By Fire. More heavy metal than doom, imo, but if you're interested there's more at https://www.youtube.com/user/fbfvideos1.

Would their reappearance become one of the happiest things that happened to doom? One of the most unexpected for sure at any rate!

The band is showing a lot of activity recently on their FB page and a sample of a brand new creation has even been published:

Wasn't the rumour that they were so unhappy with their label that they were just sitting out the end of their contract, which was due to expire sometime this year? May have been true after all, if things are starting to happen now!

Not being a fan, I didn't remember that, but it might be an explanation. And to answer Merch, the redundance is consequence of Pianissimo being the last part of a triptych, and most probably written years ago. If the story about their constraining bonds to a contract ending now is real, the release of Pianissimo is just a full stop to a previous phase of the band's career. After so long a hiatus, I guess one can reasonably assume they're also ready to publish some substantial new material; honestly I don't care about Pianissimo, but I am very curious to hear how they evolved!

Wow, yey, this is indeed amazing, I had almost given up hope!

And yes, the label issues was the only explanation I know about their disappearance from the scene and it always seemed to me a bit too unreasonable to stop doing music while you are in your prime because of something like that. I doubt there were no other paths to resolve this.

As for Pianissimo - I was also not really interested in this part of the triptych, as it was supposed to lack guitars and the guitars in their music were sublime.

So I really hope they have not sit idle all these years and we'll see new material soon. I love all their releases even the early flawed ones are fantastic.

I heard they had to wait 10 years for their contract with The End Records to expire... not sure if that's true. And was it The End Records?
