Here you can find a comprehensive list of doom-metal bands. Each band has a single page, containing a brief description. Currently we have 1380 bands in our bandlist.

Using the Genre Filter

You can use the selection box at the top left of your screen (on the bar with the band names) to filter bands according to sub-genre. The bandlist can be slightly overwhelming due to its size sometimes, esp. if you're a newer fan of the genre. Using the filter might help you to get a better overview. Note however that placing all bands within sub-genres was extremely difficult and it is only an (sometimes rather off) indication. Bands that have shifted a lot between styles will usually be placed in the, for doom-metal, genre they played the longest. So if a band made 2 death/doom albums, 1 epic doom album and 5 country and western records they would be listed as death/doom. Given this is the doom-metal genre they released most albums in.

Note: You can use two ways to filter Tradional doom. If you filter on Tradional Doom it will show ALL Traditional Doom bands, if you filter on Traditional Doom (Epic) it will only show Traditional Doom bands that play Epic Doom (like Candlemass).

We encourage both bands themselves as well as fans to e-mail us updates, corrections or additions at: NOSPAMInfo@doom-metal.com (and remove "NOSPAM"). Please keep in mind when you suggest a band that this is a doom-metal list and we are really aware of every big name. So please do not suggest Type O Negative, Tristania, Therion, Dark Tranquillity, etc, etc. or your other favourite non doom bands (exp. please stop suggesting Gothic-metal bands!). Of course we also like those bands but this is a list of DOOM-METAL bands.

Note: Due to the HUGE amount of e-mails and very little free time to upkeep the website it may take a long time for us to reply (it has been known to be over half a year!). We do save every band suggestion sent to us and will look at all of them seriously and get back to you in due course.

Sound Samples

Some bands have a sound samples. These are, very low quality, Streaming Real Audio samples just to sample music. These are for promotional use only. If you want to have a song or album in good quality you should support the band and buy the CD! But we understand you can not step into a store and listen to most of these bands. We also know our descriptions of a band may not give you enough insight to just blindly buy an album.

Note: If you are in a band listed here or own a record label holding the rights to any songs we sampled and wish those sound samples removed, please ask and we will remove them ASAP. We are not in the business of offering pirated music, that is why the samples are of (close to useless) low quality. These are meant to get people to buy your music.
