Quick introductory interview

Interview with God-Shroud.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

My name is John Isaac and I started God-Shroud along with my brother Henry in 2011. We were originally in a NYC death metal band called Arsenic in the early 80ís.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Iíve always loved doom, certainly bands like Black Sabbath but also My Dying Bride, Cathedral,Paradise Lost. I could had easily attempted to make music that would be similar but opted to make our own which is really not traditional doom in that sense but relies on dark subjects and is somewhat gothic.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

Iíd say that this right now is the high point. We started out as something for us to do together since we hadnít played music since around 1990 and now weíre going on our 6th release. At first it was a way to remain artistic and be experimental also. We donít live in the same state so I write the music, he then writes the lyrics and we get together to record his vocals.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Black Sabbath,My Dying Bride and Celtic Frost (at least for me) but Iím also into bands like Opeth.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

I have the music for our next album done but itís on hold until 2019 because Iím currently working a side project. Iím really interested to see how the new material pans out.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Just looking forward to getting some new things out to everyone,I think itíll be our next big step.
