Quick Introductory Interview

Interview with Oakbreaker.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are OAKBREAKER, a pure three-piece combo from Bavaria/Germany: Florian Schmidt - Vocals, Guitar Florian Ziegler - Drums Volker Ackermann - Bass The musicians have shared the stage on and off in different bands in the last two decades. Ranging in the past between Thrash Metal, Punk, Post-Metal and Stoner Rock. OAKBREAKER has been converging all their influences in a Sludge design since autumn 2017.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

OAKBREAKER is simply Sludge. Metaphorically speaking, we describe our style as Backwood Prison Blues, according to the first song of our debut. The sound reflects the old ghosts of the deep, wide Stone Woods surrounding our home and the fast growing sickness of a doomed, fucked up world. The songwriting of OAKBREAKER is savage and direct. We don't work with a lot of effects, but true emotion and involvement. Recordings will always be performed live in order to capture our real nature. No fake, no bullshit, no wannabe.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

OAKBREAKER was not only meant to write and play original songs, but also to evolve own abilities in recording technique and creating dedicated artwork. Therefore we don‘t consider high points of our career but working constantly on potential for strong creative output.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Inspirational sources are the NOLA scene bands emphasized through DOWN, CROWBAR and EYEHATEGOD.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

We are on the hunt for gigs, playing with maximal commitment, giving the audience a primal experience in groove and vibe.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Even the strongest oak has an axe waiting at its foot. If you are the big strong oak, we are the axe, ready to break you down!
