Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Spheronaut.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

Spheronaut is a four-piece band from Düsseldorf, Germany, formed in 2015 by former members of Deadly Chaos and Massive Thunderfuck. The idea of playing music together came up while partying together, but became serious when meeting up with instruments a few weeks after.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Having played Thrash, Death Metal and other more extreme styles before, all four started to identify themselves more with slow, groovy and low tuned music. When rehearsing the first time together in autumn 2015, the very first jams showed a clear vibe of Doom and Stoner Rock – leading to songs that were heavily riff- and drone-oriented. Finally, the music that came out of these days contained a load of fuzz, feedback and rhythm.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

The releases of both our EPs‚ 'The Doombringer’s Blues' (2016) and 'Fuzzborn' (2017), alongside the respective releaseshows.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Hard to say, but probably acts like Truckfighters, Windhand and Sleep.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

After playing our asses off, finally writing a full-length this fall.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

We do not care about genres or categories. We love music of all kinds and are very thankful that we have been invited to so many shows playing next to bands of totally different styles. As our singer wrote – Set your spirit free!
