Quick introductory interview.

Interview with GOURD.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are GOURD, a 2 piece band based in Ireland. The band was formed in the summer of 2014. Both members play in doom bands On Pain of Death and Wreck of the Hesperus. Myself and Hick decided to start another band with a focus more on noise, harshness and weirdness. The band consists of myself on drums and Hick on guitar. Hick also does the vocals. We both create noise and soundscapes for the band also. Whenever we play live we always try and play visuals if possible too.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

We’ve both been playing doom for years. It’s a genre of metal we love playing and experimenting with. We try and create really heavy, filthy demented music. With this particular band we try and incorporate lots of noise and weirdness to try make it a bit different from other bands.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

We played a gig at The Siege of Limerick festival in Ireland. It was a really cool gig in front of a decent crowd and it went very well. We had a horrible sound and horrible visuals which worked well together. Releasing our EP last year was a highlight too.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Esoteric, Cough, Grief

5. What are your plans for the near future?

We have some gigs coming up in Galway and Dublin. We also have a split with a band called Luxury Mollusc coming out in August.
