Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Famyne.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

We are Famyne.

In 2013, Alex W (guitarist) and I (Tom, vocalist) met a dude that could play drums (Jake). We jammed for a bit in 2014, liked what we'd made, added some extra members, and started gigging. The rest is history...

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Good question, well, all my life the favourite part of every metal/blues/rock song I'd listen to would inevitably end up being the bit where it all slowed down. In time, I got to hear of a genre consisting almost exclusively of those bits - doom. I fell in love, and eventually so did the other band members. I don't know why I chose it, it just feels awesome.

Regarding our style, I would say 'Canterbury Doom', as we take doom and prog it up a little bit. But then it's not really as simple as that, to be honest. I don't know - our style is kind of 'Famyne-like'. We're not out to copy anyone.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

Well, Dave Chandler from Saint Vitus dedicated a song to us during their 35th Anniversary Tour in London (the song being 'The Lost Feeling') after Chris (bassist) and I got talking and gave our card to him. He's a legend, and to do that...well...it made our year.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Saint Vitus, Black Sabbath & Alice in Chains.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

Gig, make more songs, gig those songs, make an album, tour the album, exponentially grow.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Our music is honest, we love what we do. Not sure what else to say, really...thanks for giving us the opportunity to introduce us and our music.
