Quick introductory interview.

Interview with Angellore.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

Hello! We are Angellore, a French band composed of three musicians, Rosarius (guitars, bass, keyboards, clean & extreme vocals), Walran (keyboards, extreme & clean vocals) and Ronnie (drums). Rosarius and me (Walran) met in 2007 by Internet, as we were both reviewers for some metal webzine. I had been impressed by a review written by Rosarius, so I decided to get in touch with him. The album reviewed was “Veronika Decides To Die” by almighty Saturnus… A friendship started. We met and recorded a couple of demo EPs, and released a split with an ambient/noise project on a very underground label. In 2009, we hired Ronnie and started to work on our first full length, “Errances”, which will finally be released early 2013.

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

Doom was an obvious choice for us since the very beginning. Even before starting to play a note, we knew we wanted to be a doom metal band. We wanted to find back the very special emotions of 90’s dark/doom metal. As Rosarius feels a special admiration for Saturnus and Shape of Despair, my personal favorite band is Empyrium. We wanted to find our own style while paying tribute to those bands, who fascinated us so much. We wanted to use this slowliness, this romantism to express our own emotions. We play atmospheric doom metal, with strong gothic influences and also hints of sad folk music here and there.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

Probably when we signed the contract with DreamCell11, a subdivision of Aural Music. A dream becoming true! Also, when a song of ours, “I Am The Agony”, was chosen to appear on the sampler CD of “Rock Hard France” in May 2011 and got some very positive feedbacks.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Saturnus, Draconian, and maybe While Heaven Wept (old)

5. What are your plans for the near future?

Release and promote “Errances”, get back in studio to work on a second full length, which will allow us to go further and break free from our influences to create something even more personal and beautiful.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Thanks for giving us a chance to introduce ourselves. Our song “I Am The Agony” is on YouTube. Please, give it a try! We would love to read back from you. Keep on supporting underground doom metal, there are always a lot of hidden gems to discover!
