Quick Introductory Interview.

Interview with Maze of Roots.
1. Who are you and how did the band get started?

The name is MAZE OF ROOTS this is my solo project, my name is Joel Aukusti Peksujeff. I come from southern Finland, from hyvinkää these days. this project started by accident, playing drums in the music room of the school where I was working back in 2009. Songs started coming during the summer as schools where closed and I was the janitor I had the time. In autumn I started studying again and there at my school was this reheasal space, there I recorded the drums for my first s/t ep during the winter of 09/10. I had lots of trouble with the eigth-track device I was using, it was crashing all the time, especially when I was copying back-ups, so in the end I had to cut & paste the drum tracks together from what I had. So, in the Summer of 2010 it was all finished. The following autumn I bougth a new recording device, another portable eigth-track studio, did one demo in early 2011 and last autumn I recorded my second ep "Earthen Castle".

2. Why did you choose Doom, and how would you describe your style?

I didn't, doom chose me (what a cliché!). My style? Muddy trad./occult doom with various influences here and there. Try to do my own thing but avoiding to create something new, basically just creating the kind of music I´d want to hear.

3. What would you consider to be the high point of your career so far?

All the same low. When some label publishes my works, let's open this subject again.

4. Which three bands most influenced you?

Isengard, Zess & Reverend Bizarre.

5. What are your plans for the near future?

To get some label to release my music (actually, there has been some talk, but nothing is revealed while things are uncertain) & mainly to record new material. I think I need a session drummer.

6. If there is anything you would like to add, the last words are yours.

Nothing. Check out my Bandcamp.
