Revelation's 'Never Comes Silence' re-release
29 March 2007
Posted by Georgia Brancho (85 posts made)

One of the most sought after doom metal albums, 'Never Comes Silence', by Revelation is scheduled to be re-released by Leaf Hound Records on May 15th, 2007. It had originally been released by the now legendary doom metal label, Hellhound Records, in 1993.

Revelation was one of the classic Hellhound bands of the early 90s, due to both their old school doom style and their origin, being part of a healthy DC doom scene that featured Internal Void, Unorthodox, and several others.

Leaf Hound Records will also be re-issuing a collection of the band's earlier works. Both 'Unreleased Album' and 'Salvation's Answer' - which was originally released by Rise Above Records, will be available in June, 2007.

'Unreleased Album' will be released on limited vinyl with rare photos included with the liner notes. 'Salvation's Answer' will feature bonus material and exclusive live performances.

Forsaken signs to I Hate Records
15 February 2007
Posted by Georgia Brancho (85 posts made)

The following is a joint press statement:

"It is with great satisfaction and elation that I Hate Records (Sweden) and Forsaken (Malta) can now officially announce that they have reached agreement on terms, which shall see Forsaken releasing their forthcoming heavy, epic doom metal opus on I Hate Records. The band's next album on I Hate Records is planned for mid-2008 and the contract that Forsaken have etched with the label, also provides the option for the release of two further albums, thereby providing for a fruitful and mutually rewarding long-term relationship between both parties.

Over recent years I Hate Records has emerged as one of the leading and most prolific record labels in doom metal and associated genres. The label's versatile and engaging band roster(also including Pale Divine, Isole, Minotauri, Fall of the Idols, Centurions Ghost, Burning Saviours, Abysmal Grief, Evoken and The Gates of Slumber among others) provides strong testimony to all this. I Hate's recruitment of Forsaken (undoubtedly, one of doom metal's most consistent flag bearers of late) continues to underscore the label's commitment to leave no stone unturned in its attempt to develop as an undisputed reference point for all doom metal aficionados.

Albert Bell, Forsaken's erstwhile bassist and entrusted by his band mates (Leo Stivala - Vox, Sean Vukovic - Guitars and Simeon Gatt - Drums) to lead the negotiations from the band front commented as follows on these recent events: "Following the demise of our previous label Golden Lake Productions (Scotland) last summer we have been relentlessly considering different pathways as regards to the future of the band label-wise. We are grateful to the various labels that approached the band with concrete offers for a recording contract, but after taking everything into account we strongly believe that signing with I Hate Records is the best possible move for Forsaken. The label's track record for honesty, integrity, loyalty and stature in the true doom metal scene is second to none and we are convinced that I Hate is definitely the right label for Forsaken. While the business side of things is an imperative aspect to consider in such situations, there are other things of more paramount importance to take into account, namely the label's loyalty and commitment and we feel convinced that I Hate in the person of both Ola and Peter satisfy such demands hands down. We are thus now looking forward to bring this grand alliance to realisation. Our next album will be the first step in this direction and we are already well underway in the song writing process. Supporters can expect another slab of uncompromisingly heavy, epic doom metal. Anything else will be disrespectful to Forsaken's heritage and is definitely not (nor will ever be) on the cards".

Says Ola of I Hate: The signing of Forsaken to I Hate is a great triumph for our label, and for me personally, being a fan since way back. Forsaken has everything I look for in a band. As stunned and proud as I now feel, I also sense and recognize the due responsibility involved in working with an act as revered as Forsaken. Their seal of quality Epic Doom is untarnished and their fans have grown to expect, and to deserve, only the best. Still it is with great confidence, springing from the close and friendly contacts I have personally had with the band, and Albert in particular, I look forward to our future co-operation. Our sharing of thoughts and ideas and our mutual perspective on life hasconvinced me that we are in this more as friends and allies than mere business companions, and that's what Metal, and Doom Metal in particular, should be about, I think! Put short: A Grand Coalition of Forces, indeed!"

Umbra Nihil news
10 February 2007
Posted by Georgia Brancho (85 posts made)

The next full-length album from Umbra Nihil will be released by Epidemie Records, probably by the end of summer. Expect more obscure slow metal; this time with mainly clean vocals by an additional member, not a fifth limb, but a new singer that is.

The new album will most probably focus on themes introduced to some of us by William Hope Hodgson in the brooding novel "The House on the Borderland". They have been crafting their sound into more organic and gelatinous directions in order to make it more suitable for the theme.

Furthermore, Umbra Nihil recorded a song to celebrate the rise of the multititted hoofmonster. This song should appear on a certain
compilation, the release date of which has not been announced yet.

Umbra Nihil has also been asked to appear on a Thergothon tribute. After arduous pondering, they decided to give 'The Twilight Fade' a try. Unlike
Skepticism's, Thergothon's sound seems easier to fathom and therefore easier to cover. This tribute will be released by Solitude Productions.

Solitude Aeturnus – State of the Doomion
31 January 2007

Solitude Aeturnus newsletter:

"Heavy hails to all!!
A full version newsletter to everyone is in order at this time.

First, we would like to thank everyone thus far that has sent such kind words of enthusiasm on our webpage and myspace concerning our new album 'Alone'. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming and we thank each of you for the good feelings we have felt from your words and support! Massacre has informed us that this album has received the highest press marks in the history of the label! Unbelievable! Album of the month in most of the European magazines including Rock Hard, Metal Hammer (both Germany and Greece), Heavy and others! We knew we had a great album to deliver but when it is received with such enthusiasm it warms our black hearts to no end. 'Alone' will finally be released in North America on April 3rd. And for you vinyl maniacs, Eat Metal Records is planning a release on wax very soon! This will include the digipack only song 'Embrace' as well.

With regards to the erroneous track listing on the album, what can we say? There was some confusion somewhere in the chain with Massacre and because we were running behind schedule on the release, the band themselves were not able to proofread the final art. Whatever, it’s not that big of a deal and will be fixed on the next pressing. In case you’re wondering the correct track listing in the order the band wanted it was #2 'Waiting for the Light', #4 'Sightless'. With regards to the bonus track 'Embrace', at the last minute Robert changed the title to 'Lucid Destitution' and I thought the changes were made to the final draft that was sent to Massacre. But alas, somehow I screwed it up as I checked and sure enough, the title was not changed in the track listing (although I did change it elsewhere in the credits thereby creating the confusion). So the song will now forever remain 'Embrace' as the digipack is now sold out. Maybe we’ll correct it for the vinyl version (lookout insane collectors!)? We’ll see.

Live shows! Poland on the 9th in Krakow and on the 12th in Warsaw to be filmed for a DVD release! Also playing the Real Steel fest in Mexico City on March 3rd and the Chicago Power Fest on April 20th. A local date in the DFW area is also planned for early April.

The long awaited 'Concept of God' CD will finally see the light of day this coming spring on Massacre Records! Recorded in 2001, the album is sure to please all Solitude Aeturnus fans! The band was a short lived project started by Steve Moseley and Robert Lowe during some down time after the release of 'Adagio'. Also features John “Wolf” Covington and current Solitude bassist James Martin. Sound clips and more info coming soon on the release date!

And now onto the jaw dropping news. Robert is joining Candlemass as their new lead singer. We’re not joking. We’re also letting everyone know that nothing has changed in Solitude Aeturnus and Robert will continue on with Solitude Aeturnus as well. Our live touring schedule is very minimal and we in the band see no conflict whatsoever with this situation. I personally support the decision 100%. It’s all about the music to all of us and this is a chance for Robert to be involved in making some more great music outside of Solitude Aeturnus. Why not, right? Leif Edling has been a friend of mine for many years and the decision has been made between both bands with utmost respect from the Candlemass camp. Robert is still 100% committed to continuing on with SA as we would normally have continued onward. He can’t escape it just like myself as it’s in is brain and blood. I know that the next Candlemass album will sound unbelievable to my ears as I’m both a fan of the band and Roberts vocals so speaking for myself, I’ll win out by getting free copy of the new album (on vinyl and cd please)! Ha! Seriously, this will be a great opportunity for Robert and we all wish him and Candlemass great success together. Don’t worry, Solitude Aeturnus will do another record and continue to play live as much as our personal schedules will allow. Look for more new on the Candlemass webpage with regard to their new album and live schedule for this year!

Thanks and praise again to all of you that have posted on our web and myspace! I am personally touched by each of your comments and look forward to creating more heavy sounds for the ears!

Worship statement
26 January 2007
Posted by Georgia Brancho (85 posts made)

A statement from Doommonger of Worship:

"Hey Folks,

I just wanted to update a little. I "promised" 2006 to see the release of 'Dooom', I didn't quite make it, my band beyond the void was speeding ahead for an early release of album 3, so I had to postpone Worship. YES I am slow, what did you expect?

Now again both schedules are shaken again, Beyond the Void will be released end of 2007, we changed our work process, so Worship has to be done before August, because then I will really be soaked up in Beyond the Void. And I can make it. Everything is "go".

I have never stopped to work on the material and I like it. 'Dooom' is under construction for several years, and I think it is now about 3 times as good as it was back then when I "thought" it was good and started to record with Max. 8 Songs are done, defined titles, in their defined order, story and most of the lyrics is done. Both artwork versions (LP / CD) are in progress. Preproduction has started. Recordings + Mix will happen between February and July. It can be done, and I am highly motivated.

I will use some of Max's old recordings. I will partially use vocals and drum recordings, and a special thing I recorded with him. I do the main vocals (as on the last EP), and will also care for the drums. And a lineup change has happened again. As I mentioned in an Interview some months ago, Kuolema is no longer part of the team, because of the distance. He is about 7 hours away from me & Satachrist. That is the only reason. I finally decided who will play bass from now on, a little complicated, so we are back to a solid 3. I will announce it these days.

I don't want to say too much, but I for one think it is simply the best Worship has ever done. While I can never surpass what I feel when I listen to 'Whispering Gloom', = the dawn of Worship and one of the 1st song I have ever written around 1994, I think I know a lot more about what I am doing than back when I recorded 'Last XX'. And, it also contains some of the oldest ideas I ever had, that waited for many years to fit into a song. So it's new and old for me at once.

This time I am in absolute control for the 1st time ever, because I will release the CD myself with my own money and my own little label. It will also look different and worthwhile I hope! I cannot tell you more at this time."

The Living Fields news
26 January 2007
Posted by Georgia Brancho (85 posts made)

The Living Fields, featuring Chad Walls (ex-Brodequin, ex-Pustulated) and Jon Higgs (Monsterworks) have completed work on their self-titled debut album.

Two years of sporadic collaboration have resulted in seven songs that cover a wide range of styles and emotions; from the crushing lament of 'What is Left Behind' to the funereal 'Burial at Sky', to the epic, thrashing closer, 'The Overview Effect'.

The music is rooted in doom, but elements of prog, melodic death metal, world music and classical seep into the arrangements. String quartet arrangements accentuate both the highs and lows while snatches of piano, timpani and hand percussion add detail to the work.

Tracklist:
1. What is Left Behind
2. Burial at Sky
3. This Great Majority
4. Feast for the Earth
5. Monument
6. The Soil Giveth
7. The Overview Effect

One full track, 'Monument', has just been uploaded to the band's website, along with 30-second samples of the remaining tracks.

An additional track, 'The Soil Giveth', has been uploaded to the band's MySpace page.

The band is currently shopping the album to labels for consideration.

The Living Fields released their demo, 'The Miseries Never Cease' in 2004 to wide acclaim.
