Canaan

Italy - Active.

Description

Atmospheric Doom

Canaan was formed by Mauro (who is also the CEO of Eibon Records) and Luca in 1996, after the disbandment of their cult Funeral Doom outfit Ras Algethi. Retaining something of the slow-paced atmospheric doominess of the latter, but mixing in more Ambient and Darkwave/Gothic influences, the band has evolved through a number of line-up changes since. Beginning with a style that alternated Dark Ambient experimental tracks with Atmospheric/Gothic/Doom ones, they have since experimented with a number of variations on that theme. A very hard-to-categorise band, but one which generally retains at least enough of a Doom feel to qualify for inclusion.
