Monarch (often written Monarch!) plays a very grim and creepy style of Extreme Doom Metal. Their earlier albums are a noisy kind of Sludge in the vein of Khanate, while their later albums ('Omens' and 'Sabbracadaver') take a more melancholic and droned-out Funeral Doom approach. The vocals of frontwoman Emilie Bresson consist of horrifying shrieks, morbid whispers, and harmonic clean singing that resurrect the forlorn sounds of Funeral's earliest works. The guitars are earth- shaking and heavy as gravity itself, loaded with shrill screams of feedback between each reverberation. Overall, the band is suitable for fans of Bloody Panda, Moss, and Worship.
