Death/Doom, Stoner Formed in 1992, Celestial Season started out playing romantic and somewhat generic doom/death metal with melodic riffs, deep growled vocals, lush violins, cellos, and plenty of romantic and Gothic overtones. The bands sound shifted on their second album, Solar Lovers, where they combined stoner and doom/death to surprisingly good effect. They are possibly the first band who did this. From that point on the band took a more upbeat Stoner direction akin to Kyuss. Fans of Cathedral, Kyuss and Acid Witch would find interest here. |
