Rapture

Finland - Active.

Description

Atmospheric Doom

Rapture has always been known for sounding a lot like mid-period Katatonia. People who dislike the band even describe them as a simple clone of Katatonia. While this goes a bit too far, the similarities between both bands are undeniable. Rapture are a band well worth checking out if you wished Katatonia had continued on the path they chose on 'Brave Murder Day'. Vocally, too, both acts sound very much alike, even if that Rapture seem to mix grunted and clean vocals more. Another point of debate has always been whether their music can truly be described as Doom Metal, focusing on Rock-oriented midtempo riffs for the most part (a similar issue exists with Katatonia). We feel that their sound is sufficiently doomed-sounding to list them, however, not to mention that a large number of Doom fans appreciate their music greatly.
