Estatic Fear

Austria - Status : unknown.

Description

Atmospheric Doom

Very complicated, orchestral doom with many different instruments, for example, a lute. The music is slow, melodic and the tracks are *very* long but never boring. Most of the lyrics are in Latin with some parts in English and German! Their second album sees them moving more towards the direction of Therion and Haggard and as such moving away from playing Doom-metal. Both albums are lush, yet intimate compositions of pure melancholy. The best description I have seen to date is "Orchestral folk Doom".

Interviews

Interview with Estatic Fear (2017-06-25).

Misc

The three other members left the band after Somnium Obmutum', to found Astaroth, leaving Estatic Fear the solo project of Mathias Kogler (a.k.a. Calix Miseriae) for 'A Somber Dance', on which many guest musicians contributed.

Although never officially disbanded, the band has been on hiatus for nearly twenty years. Kogler has been quoted as saying other material exists, but has never been properly recorded due to time constraints.

Note that the listed interview is not actually one with Estatic Fear, but an extended biography of the band as assembled by the Russian group Shadow Suite from various sources including personal correspondences.
