Catacombs

USA - Active.

Description

Death/Doom, Funeral Doom

Solo project of Xathagorra Mlandroth after having stopped with his previous Doom project Hierophant. Much like his previous project, Catacombs delivers ultra heavy and gut-crushing death/doom edging towards Funeral Doom. Heavier than most other underground bands, with a very nihilistic sound, slow plodding drums and rumbling guitars. Fans of his previous project or of bands like Evoken and Esoteric should check this out.

Misc

Before officially changing his name, Xathagorra Mlandroth was known as John Del Russi. He used to have a solo Doom-metal project called Hierophant. He also has a black-metal release called Sect (4 track EP). He used to be involved in a project started with Dario Derna of Evoken entitled Pagan Throne (Twisted black-metal). He also used to run the Dark Vision Productions record label.

The re-release of 'Echoes Through The Catacombs' contains two bonus tracks. These are the remastered versions of the original tracks, thus giving the listener the choice between the old bleaker versions and the slightly more "sophisticated" new ones.
