Description

Death/Doom

Originally starting out as a more-or-less pure melodic Death Metal band, Helsinki-based Amorphis quickly incorporated Prog and Doom elements into their sound, before moving in a more Gothic Metal/Heavy Metal direction. Debut 'The Karelian Isthmus' showed some similarities to early Paradise Lost. Arguably, the only release that could fully be tagged as Death/Doom was 1994's 'Tales From The Thousand Lakes', but those influences have continued to appear sporadically - and occasionally more dominantly, as on 2010's 'Magic & Mayhem' - throughout their career.
