Solace

USA - Active.

Description

Stoner/Doom

Solace is a doom band most heavily inspired by early Black Sabbath, although they are sometimes characterized as a stoner band as well. Alternately clean and screaming vocals by Jason combine with Tommy Southard's fluid guitar work and Rob Hultz's deep, distorted bass to produce a Sabbathy mix that is remarkably English-sounding for an American band. The lyrics are both abstract and deeply personal. One of the best doomy bands from the US.

Misc

Guitarist Tommy Suthard and bassist Rob Hultz have both formerly played in the heavy metal band Godspeed. Funny trivia: The Allmusic.com page about the band had apparently confused them with a hindu-folk band at one point.
