Mythic share a thing or two in common with fellow doomsters Thorr's Hammer. Both had a female vocalist who growled like a demon (in this case the vocals of Dana Duffey who went on to form the black/death band Demonic Christ), and both released one tremendous, rare, and nearly legendary EP before breaking up. Mythic was the first and to our knowledge only all-female doom-metal band, including the aforementioned Dana Duffey, drummer Terri Heggem as well as bassist Mary Beilich - who went on to join Novembers Doom and later Penance. Mythic played a crushingly heavy and brutal form of doom-metal that could be compared to diSEMBOWELMENT at times. Count yourself among the very fortunate if you have a copy of their album 'Mourning in the Winter Solstice' in your collection.

|All the band's recorded material and artwork is now available to download for free from their website. The Anthology compilation almost didn't see the light of day as two of the Mythic bandmembers never wanted it to be pressed. They sued the record company, but it was released privately instead. The split between the band doesn't seem to have been a pleasant one. Amongs other a rumor that Dana Duffey is a racist has emerged since. She herself claims that she isn't, but the other two previous bandmembers claim the opposite. The split 'Relapse Single Series Vol.5' is with the bands Candiru ("industrial" metal), Mortician (death metal/grindcore) and Afflicted (death/power metal).|
