Mournful Congregation

Australia - Active.

Description

Funeral Doom

Some of the most unforgiving and slowest Funeral Doom around. Their early works are pure depressive Doom in the vein of Thergothon and Skepticism. Much like Thergothon, though, Mournful Congregation soon began to employ more complex songwriting than your average Funeral Doom band, complete with calm breaks or even purely acoustic tracks. A very interesting band, considered by many as one of the leading acts of the contemporary Extreme Doom scene.

Misc

The band used to share several members with Chalice, but does not sound anything like that band. In interviews they have distanced themselves from being associated with Chalice.
'Four Burials' is a split with Loss, Orthodox and Otesanek.
