Modar plays really oldschool doom/death laced seamlessly with doom/black and epic traditional doom, granting their sound a marriage between Winter, Unholy, and old Solitude Aeturnus. The recording quality make their music sound as if it came from a genuine late 80's demo recording.

|The band started out under the Modar moniker, but they had a brief period where named themselves Demori, playing Death influenced death metal. The 'Victims of the Rule' demo is from the Demori period; it was never released and later accidentally destroyed. When the second demo, 'Inferior Symphony', came out they had reverted to the current name.|
The band was in hiatus between their break-up sometime in the mid-90's and the rebirth in 2006. Only one of the members from the break-up still remain in the band.
