Speaking of French extreme Death Doom inevitably brings to mind the bleak despondency and dark turmoil of Ataraxie. Fatum Elisum do share a lot of similarities with their fellow-countrymen. Their sound is as dark and thunderous, but the songwriting is also less monolithic, more varied and the band can indulge in some lyrical flights brought by the singer who can shift easily from growls to heavy Metal bellowings. A mix some might find off- putting.
